Green Energy Consumers Alliance

Green Energy Consumers Alliance (formerly Mass Energy and People’s Power & Light) harnesses the collective power of energy consumers to speed the transition to a low-carbon future. Our programs aim to educate energy consumers, activate green energy choices in their lives, and influence policy for the greater good. Jet Set Off-Set participants are supporting our New England Wind Fund. Our New England Wind Fund's goal is to add more wind power to the New England grid. Born in 2002 when there was only one community-scale turbine in all of New England, the Fund has been part of supporting 22 new wind projects over 16 years. Each Jet-Set Offset contribution will be spent on megawatt hours (MWH) of wind power within 10 years through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates, known as RECs.

For every 3,400 miles flown, we'll be able to make sure 1,000 kWh of wind energy comes onto our electric grid. That's enough to power the average home for 6 weeks, and to prevent 969 pounds of carbon emissions. Our fundraising goal is $400,000 – enough to power 1,700 homes for one year. Anyone can make the switch to greener energy today. Our programs and services also offer: discounts on electric vehicles, green electricity, efficient heating solutions, simple solar shopping, advocacy opportunities, and innovative collective action to save energy when it matters most.
